My experience using GoToWebinar actually started 1 year before I heard of the product. I was having problem with my Outlook email. When I called about how I could fix the problem, I was told that I could sign up for technical assistance for $40 dollars per fix.
I didn’t want to pay the extra money, but I also couldn’t do without my email. So, I paid the $40.
I was connected with a tech in India. The first thing he said was, “Are you on your computer now?” Then, he gave me a website to go to and download something onto my computer. What happened next was truly amazing. This tech from India took control of my computer. I watched as he moved through my folders and made a few changes here and there.
Now, I was nervous about having someone else access my computer and make changes. However, I thought that if he was a MicroSoft technician, I was probably OK. Also, I was so intrigued at how the technology allowed him to view what was on my screen.
That was my introduction to the power and technology of webinars. Basically, one person can show you something on their computers and you can see what they’re doing on your computer. You can’t go in and change things like the tech could. But, you could be on the phone speaking about the same things you both were seeing on the computer at the same time.
I found out about GoToWebinar as a platform to conduct webinars and one-on-one’s with people. So, I signed up for the smaller version GoToMeeting. Or, I should say that I signed up for the free 30-day trial.
Then, I set up a series of 10 webinars … all in 1 week … that I could use to try out the platform. I thought, “What would be the most interesting topics I would like to cover in a webinar?” So, I made a list … product creation, branding yourself online, how to find your spiritual calling. Then, I proceeded to create a webinar with specific days and times and emailed people on my list with an invitation to join me “live.”
Lots of people did. I got great feedback, too. I created a Power Point presentation for each webinar and gave the handouts to participants.
Then, I discovered something truly amazing … after a webinar, a .wav file is left on my computer. This means that I now had a video version of webinar. So, I got the idea to create a webpage where I could upload the video versions:

I took this a step further, selected the top videos and did a shortened version of less than 10 minutes (using GoToWebinar) and uploaded the videos to YouTube …

What I also like about GoToWebinar is …
- I can do one-on-one presentations and coaching.
- I offer a series of webinars as a class.
- I use webinars to be “previews” of upcoming products and services.
- I can switch (with a phone call) between GoToMeeting for 15 people ($39/month) and GoToMeeting for 1,000 ($99/month), depending on the size of the group that month.
