I started using 1ShoppingCart after a colleague Dr. Gay Hendricks recommended it. He was using the shopping cart and autoresponder components of the system to sell products online, like self-improvement books and classes. I thought I would give it a try to grow my business as well. Having a 30-day low-cost trial allowed me to try it out. I’ve been using it ever since.

The name 1ShoppingCart is a little deceiving. Why? Because it is much more than a shopping cart. Sure, it has the features you need to sell stuff online, like a secure site to handle credit card transactions, a place to include images and descriptions of your product, and links to hook to your website and emails for people to buy your products directly.

There are two other services that businesses online can benefit from: autoresponders and affiliate programs. Here is a brief explanation of each:

Autoresponder

An autoresponder is a system that automatically responds. If someone comes to your website, this visitor … There are three ways to measure your success as a business online:

1. Number of unique visitors to your site monthly (traffic)
2. Number of unique visitors to your site monthly who leave their names and emails (opt-in conversion)
3. Number of unique visitors to your site monthly who buy a product or service (sales conversion)

Autoresponders are helpful in both #2 and #3 cases. When visitors leave their names and emails (opt-in), you need a way to reply back to them automatically in one or more emails. You want this service to happen automatically, too, so your business can grow when you’re asleep or on vacation.

An autoresponder can be set up to send a sequence of emails that you specify. You can have 1 email message sent when they opt-in that says something like “Thank you for your subscription. Here is your free Special Report (with a link for them to download the report).”

You can create products like a 10-day or 30-day mini-course that is dripped out to the person once a day for 30 days. The autoresponder does this for you. You enter the content into your system, and it does the work for you automatically. It’s like creating an email message once and then having that message go out whenever you want. Do it once and then the system sends out the message.

Affiliate Programs

The other main feature I love about 1ShoppingCart is that the shopping cart and autoresponders are connected with an affiliate program. An affiliate program is where you can have people promote your product and pay them a commission when a product is bought. This is handled automatically and electronically, so you don’t have to manage it all yourself.

How does it work?

Well, the affiliate program provides promoters or affiliates with their own unique affiliate link. When people click on the link, the system puts a “cookie” on their computers. Then, when a product is purchased, the cookie is acknowledged and the affiliate is given credit for the sale.

This allows you to have multiple people selling your products. It’s like having a virtual sales team. But, you don’t have to pay them anything until a sale is made. So, there is no money out of your pocket.

To Start

If you’re starting out, I recommend that you start with the autoresponder package only. Build up your “opt-in” list of names and emails first, as well as the products and services that you can deliver electronically and online.

Once you have a few products, then it’s worth it to add the shopping cart package. Then, when you’re having sales, add the affiliate programs.

To start, then, follow these steps to save money …

1. Sign up for the 30-day trial of the autoresponder.
2. Create a few autoresponder sequences to build your opt-in list.
3. Create one or more products to sell. Then, upgrade and add the shopping cart.
4. Once you have some sales of one or more products, add the affiliate program.
